Any time you subscribe to a magazine, you join a club. It's called the totally inept zone! MaximumPC magazine sent me a nasty notice in the mail on September 5th, 2001 for non-payment of their magazine (you probably know where I going with this now). Here's the notice:

Johnny says he's gonna report me to the credit bureau if I don't cough up the cash...

Now I know the guys over at MaximumPC have some nice computers over there. I know cause I read their magazine. I wonder if MaximumPC is to busy processing all those millions and millions of subscriptions that they don't have time (5 months) to process my account properly. I think even a 286 Radio Shack computer could do it faster than the one they have now. Anyway, when I subscribed to the magazine I paid in full with a check. It's already cleared my bank [05-23-01]. The notice says to contact them immediately! or the Gestapo will be at my door. In true inept fashion, they didn't provide me with a phone number on the notice, just snotty and cavalier language, so I had to look it up online. I got a person on the phone and begged to not be put on the train... I was granted mercy! They said my papers were in order and I could just ignore the notice. Thank GOD! I'm saved! I'll most likely have to check my credit report in 3 months to see if they didn't hold up their end of the bargain.

Anyway, my good standing was assured, and my life can go back to normal now. All they accomplished was a hour or teo of my time wasted for dealing with this matter. Let's see... Maybe I'll send them an invoice for two hours of my time! And if they don't pay, i'll report them to the Gestapo!
